I can't wait any longer; I have to share what I've been working on! I've mentioned in recent posts that I've been waiting to get some supplies for a new project; they were embroidery hoops!
There is a Moss Pillow that has been on the back burner for awhile, sitting atop my desk in a huge embroidery hoop. After staring at it off and on for some time, it struck me that it would be so cute on a small, intimate scale to hang on the wall! I have always preferred to work on a small scale (and if I want something with impact, I group them), so this is perfect!
I have these pieces completed except for cutting the excess fabric and securely gluing the fabric to the hoops. Here's a sneak peak:
The hoops on all three of these are 3 in. I will also be making 4 in. and 5 in. hoops as well; I may also make larger ones in the future.
The fabric is the gray cotton fabric that I used for the Moss Ottoman Slipcover. However, I used the reverse side of the fabric because I didn't want the pinstripe on these small pieces. I may also use some linen in the future.
I decided I had an opportunity to play with texture more than usual with the lichen because the piece is so flat; therefore, I made french knots in different sizes and some are loose and some are tight.
After I trim and glue these guys, they will be listed in the shop...it should be within a few days!
I hope your weekend went well and happy Monday!
what a super cute idea. love it!
