We spotted an active paper wasp nest last weekend. Maybe it will still be there after the wasps abandon it and I can retrieve it!

Succulent Garden

Here is the current status of my succulent garden (minus the large christmas cactus), of which I plan to double its size...once I find another thrifted pan to contain them and protect the wood of the table they are inhabiting.

The large pot with the two plants are cuttings from my mom that I got when we visited last month. I let them callus over on our trip home and then just stuck them in the soil. They're a bit chewed up; apparently, they are a juicy delicacy to some sort of creature in my parents' hot and dry climate.

I started stitching some new work (well, some experiments and tests) today...similar to the "old" work, but with some added content....sneak peeks soon, methinks!

Back to School

School starts again for Boo next week and it's been a busy summer. Here's a few highlights (with corresponding pictures):

1. Boo's birthday in which we had family visits.
2. Blackberry picking...I have been lagging on picking duty.
3. Visiting family. Since its been hot, we traveled down the coast which was lovely.
4. Visits to the farmers' market and a local farm...not as often as I should! Check out that cantaloupe seed kaleidoscope!

As the weather cools, I plan to hunker down with the woodstove's warmth and get to work...needlework seems to like cozy weather.
