I painted my nails like the night sky yesterday evening. Subtle, but I'm happy with the result.

Ink Well

Awhile back, Jeff's mom gave Boo an old school desk (with wooden swivel chair and open-able top). Then, my parents happened to continually see little metal ink wells, some with glass inserts at antique stores. They decided to buy one for me. When I got it in the mail, I thought that since these wells seemed to be pleniful, they probably had a more commercial use. I decided to see if it would fit in the desk...and it did.

Funny, on a recent post, I mentioned that it hasn't felt like fall yet, and do you know...the very next day, the air had that autumnal smell? I'm going to miss all the fresh produce coming from local farms, but I do await the apple cider lady's return to the farmers' market. And, I picked-up a pumpkin-shaped and frosted sugar cookie for Boo at the market this past week, which made him very happy. Certainly, all is not lost. Seasonal change is a beautiful thing.

More soon. Maybe it's the change of seasons that has me curled up with a book of Edgar Allan Poe's works instead of making things and being online.

Honeysuckle

A couple of days ago, it occured to me that I didn't know what Pantone's color of the year was for 2011 (maybe because of these cookies...mmmm...cookies...I digress). Last year, when I found out that it was turquoise, I wasn't surprised. But, this year...it's a pink...honeysuckle in fact...and I am surprised.

It's a pretty bold color and I feel like I haven't seen much of it around, but now that I know about it, you know I'll see it everywhere!

 

 

What I Would Have Chosen

I mentioned I was camera shy....These are the pictures I would have chosen to use...

I love the composition of these images, but they don't exactly scream that they're me. I suppose it's okay to get out-voted now and again. The first was taken by my friend Tracy, the second by my father. Thanks guys.

Some Fun for Food

Boo is a bit of a picky eater, so his Auntie Lindsey got him this Tic Tac Toast:

Boo does like toast (he prefers whole wheat bread with almond butter and honey), but maybe I can get him to experiment with toppings this way. I also don't think he'd really be interested in the game tic tac toe yet, but he might have fun chomping blocks of toppings.

I love the packaging! Here's the back:

Ugh...it mentions that white toast works best...I suppose I'll use sourdough since it's a bit healthier (lower glycemic index). Oh yeah, and almond butter has twice as much fiber as peanut butter, but is much more expensive; I found a great deal on it at COSTCO...I'd better go get more (hopefully they still have it)!

I guess now that I've got the cute packaging stored here, I can take it out of said packaging!

My First Giveaway!

Also, I've been thinking about gardening lately, particularly what my dream garden would entail (especially after that NWF post and the "for my dream garden" post), even though I don't have a yard. This garden would include a gray water/rain water system, a rich compost pile, an herb garden, a veggie garden and a shade garden - just for starters. Some plants I'm thinking about are: honeysuckle, jasmine, a fig tree, heirloom roses, shade violets (that's what I call them, you know, the delicate ones), moss, nasturtiums, strawberries, blueberries, all kinds of varieties of mint (check out the ones in thepapergal's Etsy shop), scented geranium, succulents (I favor the non-cactus variety) - I'm definitely going to need different zones!

So, here's the scoop on this giveaway - Leave a comment to this post with your garden recommendation(s): varieties, blogs, tools, seed suppliers (organic please) and such - I'd love to hear about your favorite garden things! And even thought I don't have a garden currently, I'm fairly savy...if that helps. Okay, I think I've mentioned before that we're air-cooled VW fans and I thought I'd share with you a super fun website dealing with these cars - Bus Selecta. I think you'll have fun with this site even if you aren't a VW fan (heaven forbid), or a car person at all. You get to pick the Model, suspension height, wheels (and tires or "tyres"), colors or "colours," and accessories for you virtual Bus (or Bug, Type 3, or even Porsche).
