Flocked Deer

I recently found this flocked deer "trophy" at a vintage/antique store when I was visiting family. What's not to love? It's flocked plastic and faux bois (contact paper?). The shield portion of this fella is about 7 inches tall, so he's small, but what a presence! Oh, and that lovely bunting is from darling Rebekah of bliss in a teacup.

Big Cartel Love

There are quite a few shops on Big Cartel that I admire, so I thought I'd share. The only trick is to remember to bookmark them because I can't heart them like I can on Etsy (anyone know if there's a way to keep track of Big Cartel shops you like other than bookmarking?)

New Work: Lichen Jars

Whew! I finally listed some new Lichen Jars! These three new ones are special; they feature naturally hand-dyed embroidery floss from Barefoot Shepherdess (be sure to check out Yuki's blog as well)! Ooh, and all three are made with the unbleached muslin that I tea-stained!

Here's the first:

This jar is has a wide-mouth, so it gets an extra helping of lichen. The colors are: yellow (gardenia), teal (gardenia and indigo), and dark gray brown (alder).

This wee jar has lichen in: peach (sakura), teal (gardenia and indigo), and light green (yomogi).

Easter Eggs

I thought I'd post a bit about Easter...it's coming up so fast! This week at Boo's preschool, there is experimentation with dying eggs, so I've been thinking about eggs quite a bit. I found some really cute crocheted ones recently while thrifting with Jenny....

I always look for holiday stuff when I'm thrifting and on the trip that I found these, I wasn't having any luck. Then I noticed a really dingy plastic bag tied off at the top with these little gems in them. They were really cute, but I was hesitant to buy something in a dingy bag (and they looked dingy themselves). But, Jenny made the points that they were $1, some sweet little old grandma probably made them, and that I could stick them in a delicates bag and throw them in the washing machine - sold! I washed them and they pilled a bit, but after trimming off the little pills, here they are in their fussy grandma glory!

Oh, and yes, they all three have little chicks in them!

Miniature Rhino

Oh, look what the postman brought recently!

Jessica of Miniature Rhino makes the most lovely pieces and she is simply a peach! I love this Tree Stump....Doesn't it look at home?

I'm wanting to collect up a grouping of little pieces from others...this is the first.

Low Light Love

There have been a couple of references on the Poppytalk blog lately of Herriott Grace (here and here) and the photographs in the shop are stunning. What's lovely about the photographs is that they are in low-light. (I know that it's a trend right now, but this shop is the epitome of low-light photos.) One doesn't need a lot of light to have amazing photographs (I live in Oregon afterall)...but they do still have to be styled nicely....
